Jessica Barefield
Jessica is a proud Livingston County resident, wife to her college sweetheart Brandon, and mother of two teenage children. A small business owner since 2010, Jessica found her passion for politics in 2016 when her second-grade son’s fascination with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump prompted her to research his policies and leadership style. Inspired by what she learned, she became a devoted supporter and began her political journey. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jessica stepped up in her community, co-founding Unmask Livingston County in Through grassroots advocacy, she and her colleagues successfully petitioned school boards, County Commissioners, and local businesses to adopt sensible approaches to pandemic-related challenges. That same year, she joined then-Gubernatorial Candidate Ryan Kelley’s team and remained involved through the 2022 primary.
Motivated to champion parental rights and educational integrity, Jessica ran for the Pinckney School Board in an effort to bring a voice of reason and slow the district’s plan to implement a full-scale SEL curriculum. Although not elected, the experience led Jessica to homeschool her children, a decision she and her family have embraced ever since. Undeterred, she successfully ran for Precinct Delegate in 2022 and earned a seat on her County Executive Committee. In February 2023, Jessica was elected Executive Director of the Livingston County Republican Party and State Committee Member for the Michigan Republican Party, where she continues to serve on the Budget Committee. One year later, she became Vice Chair of the Livingston Republican Party and also had the honor of working as a Regional Director of Election Integrity for Trump Force 47 through November 2024.
Today, Jessica is eager for the opportunity to serve as the next Co-Chair of the Michigan Republican Party. Her wide-ranging experiences—from grassroots activism to party leadership—have given her a deep understanding of the issues most important to Michigan’s delegates. Jessica looks forward to using her unique perspective and hands-on approach to best serve Republicans across the state.
